This one day writing workshop invites you to discover the element of surprise with your writing.

The ‘free write’ method, which has been Sandy’s go-to for generating new material and poems for several decades, requires a series of short writings using phrases and lines from various published material such as a poem, essay, story, etc.

Through this sequence of short writings, and sharing some of this writing, we will be amazed by where our own mind and body is. And we, your readers, will be surprised as well!

Together as a group we will pull to the surface moments of your writing that offer us surprise, nuance and congruent thread. We will continue to develop the ideas and themes within each of our writings, through additional readings, as we develop each of our pieces into a completed form.

Participants can work within all forms of writing such as prose, poetry, journaling or any genre of your choice. Come prepared to be surprised by where your mind takes you, and the connections to
the rest of your life!
