Olivia Joy St. Claire has been a resident artist here over the last 3 years for a month or two each year. I’ve come to know her well as a photographer, mixed media artist, an intrepid hiker, and a friend. Her love of nature, instilled by her dear grandfather at an early age, is the inspiration for her photography.

Joy used to drag her big camera along on hikes until, over time, her back and shoulders ached too much. And so began her desire to really tackle the possibilities on an iPhone on her daily hikes through the woods, up the mountains, and along the coast.

When we hike together, Joy shares her iPhone methods with me, and to my great satisfaction, I’ve taken much better, more interesting, more personal photographs.

That is why I’m so excited to have Joy teaching Mobile Photography again. I asked Joy to give me a good list of reasons for taking this class and she quickly said:

· You always have your phone with you. The best camera is the one you have with you.
· The world will become new to you as you see everything around you with fresh eyes.
· People will think your photographs were taken with a regular digital camera.
· You will learn to fully utilize the camera in your phone and make beautiful edits.
· Your creativity will be unleashed.
· You can easily print photo books from your phone photos.

Because Joy makes her living taking photographs, she is proficient at Art Licensing, and 26 Split Rock Cove is offering a workshop on the ins and outs of Art Licensing.
