THREE PLACES STILL AVAILABLE!
I am thrilled to have poet Dawn Potter at 26 Split Rock Cove for the weekend of November 1 – 3! Dawn directs the Frost Place Conference on Poetry and Teaching at Robert Frost’s home in NH. She is the author of 8 books, most recently the collection Chestnut Ridge.
Dawn has this to say about the weekend’s work: “The poets Jane Kenyon and Hayden Carruth were among the most distinctive New England voices of late twentieth century. They came to the rural northcountry as adults, and discovered, in the land and in its people, a way to frame their own inner lives and to speak eloquently to ours. In this weekend workshop we’ll look closely at work by both poets and use our conversations about their poems to jumpstart our own writing and revision.”
The events begin Friday evening at 5 pm with introductions and dinner. Dawn will lay the groundwork for our weekend together. Participants will each have an opportunity to read one of their own poems.
Saturday will be a full day!! Two classes – one in the morning and one in the afternoon – using these poets of the north country as our starting points, with plenty of writing time and sharing, followed by a Revision Workshop late in the afternoon.
A second Revision Workshop on Sunday morning, and a reading by Dawn Potter will complete the workshop’s schedule of events.
Included will be Friday evening dinner, breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
